Description
Where it can find open ground, you will see mound upon mound of pink / purple rosebay willowherb. These flowers form licks of flame in large patches of tall, purple / pink flowers, often on waste land. Their early appearance on blackened bomb sites and burnt woodlands led to the name "fireweed". An alternative name is blooming sally.

Rosebay willowherb is an early / pioneer coloniser, seen here on Mitcham Common, Surrey, England.
