Description
Fontana del Moses, Rome, Italy, Europe. Fontana del Mosè (Fountain of Moses, in English) was designed by Domenico Fontana in 1587 to celebrate the entry of the acqueduct Acqua Felice into Rome. The aqueduct Acqua Felice was completed in 1586 by Pope Sixtus V on a project of Domenico Fontana. The fountain have three arched and don't like a lot at that time. It have a large attic and a billboard for the triumphant inscription. The travertine of the facade comes from the Baths of Diocletian. In the arches you can find Biblical figures: Joshua cross the Jordan River (made by Flaminio Vacca), Aaron drives the Jewish people to drink (made by G.B.Della Porta) and in the centre the nice statue of Moses made by Leonardo Sormani and Prospero Bresciano.
