Rome, Italy - March 14, 2011: Detail of the Fountain of Neptune (Fontana del Nettuno) in Piazza Navona, one of the oldest Renaissance fountains in Rome. The basin without sculptures was designed in 1574 by Giacomo Della Porta, then the fountain was finished in 1878; on the statues the typical pigeons, on the background some tourists.

The fountain dates back to 1574, but was completed in 1878 with the imposing sculptures of "Neptune fighting with an octopus" and other sculptures based on the mythological theme of the Nereids with cupids and walruses
