'Aigues-Mortes, France - November 24, 2012: The medieval fortified town of Aigues-Mortes, Camargue, France, with modern bill-boards in front of it. In the 13thC this was France's only Mediterranean port and the departure point for the 7th and 8th Crusades. The sea receded, replaced by salt marshes and today Aigues-Mortes is visited for its history, the wildlife (especially flamingoes and other marsh birds) and for the salt mines nearby.'
