Lusaka, Zambia- May 28, 2012. Freedom Statue in Lusaka, Zambia. Located on the plateau in front of Government Headquarters and next to National Museum of Zambia on Independence Road, downtown Lusaka. This monument represent an important landmark in Zambia and it is featured almost on all local bank notes. It symbolize Zambian freedom fight against British colonialism. It is dedicated to Zambian freedom fighters and was unveiled by former Zambian President and father of the nation Dr. Kenneth Kaunda on 23rd October, 1972. The monument is covered with flowers from the recent Zambia Day celebration, on May 25.
