Description
A statue of a general on horseback in silhouette with a sunset behind, Budapest. This is an equestrian statue of Artur Gorgey who sided with the Hungarian revolutionaries of 1848 against the Austrian empire. It is currently featured as royalty free on many stock agency websites, and is categorized under 'monuments'. The original statue was erected in 1935, but was destroyed in 1945 during WWII. It was rebuilt and dedicated in 1998. There is no artist name associated with the work. It is located along the Buda side (western side of the Danube) on the castle grounds.
