Description
The Legend tells that the "hidden portrait" was sculpted by Michelangelo Buonarroti, who, every time happened to be passing through Via della Ninna, the street between Palazzo Vecchio and the Uffizi, was regularly stopped by the same person who bored him all the time telling the same old story about its financial failures and credit due to the same Buonarroti and never paid.

It was on one of those occasions that Michelangelo, plagued by boredom and with the tools of his trade in hand, while the nuisance spoke, his back turned, he carved his profile, immortalising him forever in the stones of Palazzo Vecchio.
