Description

Two persons are hiking in the Monte Fitz Roy range. The granite needles in the background are Aiguille St,Rafael and Aiguille Poincenot.
The Monte Fitz Roy 3405 m in Patagonia Argentina is one of the most spectacular mountains in the world. He is situated int he Parque Nacional Glaciales and surrounded by glaciers and glacier lakes. The rock is granite and the first ascent was done by the french climbers Lionel Terray and Guido Magnone in 1952. The mountain is named after Fitz Roy, the captain of the Beagle, the ship of Charles Darwin. Climbing Fitz Roy is very difficult.
