Vintage legal document dating to 1910 used to enact a mortgage. Amid the ornate legal script on the pre-printed document are the words fifteenth and ten, inserted using a typewriter, which was still a relatively new technology. A bendable brass paper fastener, invented in 1866, holds the multi-page document together - the fastener being the precursor to the modern staple.
