Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - April 29, 2011: The Historic Tennessee Theater on Gay Street, Knoxville, TN USA is located in the Burwell building on historic Gay Street. The Burwell building was built in 1907 and was Knoxville's tallest building until 1912. The Tennessee Theater was added in 1928 and is the home of the world-famous "Mighty Wurlitzer" organ. The theater was designated "The Official State Theatre of Tennessee" in 1999 by the Historic Tennessee Theatre Foundation. The Tennessee Theater underwent a $29.3 million dollar renovation from June 2003 to January 2005, restoring its original 1920's glamor. It reopened on January 14, 2005.
