Description
One of the world’s longest and heaviest trains carries a load of Pilbara iron ore (“red gold”) to port through a rugged desert landscape in outback Western Australia. Hauled by two powerful diesel locomotives, the train consists of around 200 wagons with 25,000t of ore. A mid-train helper locomotive can be seen in the distance as the train extends round several curves on the line.
