Electron Microscopic Photograph of a group of human Neutrophils. Neutrophil granulocytes are the most abundant type of white blood cells in mammals and form an essential part of the innate immune system. In general, they are referred to as either neutrophils or polymorphonuclear neutrophils (or PMNs). In this electron microscopic picture, the characteristic lobulated or segmented nucleus can be observed. Neutrophils are also knows as granuloctes due to the great number of intracellular granules they have, also noticeable in the picture
