Glasgow, UK - March 26, 2013: A statue of John Greig outside Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow, the home ground of Rangers Football Club. The statue commemorates those killed in the first Ibrox Disaster when a stand collapsed in 1902, in a crush on a stairway in 1961, and in the second Ibrox Disaster in 1971 when 66 died in a crush when leaving the ground. John Greig was the Rangers captain at the time of the 1971 disaster. The memorial was created by sculptor Andy Scott and unveiled on 2 January 2001.
Description
A statue of John Greig outside Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow, the home ground of Rangers Football Club. The statue commemorates those killed in the first Ibrox Disaster when a stand collapsed in 1902, in a crush on a stairway in 1961, and in the second Ibrox Disaster in 1971 when 66 died in a crush when leaving the ground.
