Kodaikanal, India - November 15, 2011: The Kodaikanal Lake in the Palani Hills, in the South Indian State of Tamil Nadu situated at about 7000 feet above sea level; at the far end, to the centre, is the boathouse on the lake, and to the right, the Carlton Hotel. In the foreground are some water-lilies.
The town of Kadaikanal on the Palani Hills in the South Indian State of Tamil Nadu was developed by the British during their time in India as a summer resort to escape from the heat of the plains. The Town was established in 1845 and to this day bears some of the names given by the Colonial Rulers. The lake seen in the photograph was also created by the British as was the boathouse.
