Description
A native small tree of New Zealand, Lancewood (known by the Maori as Horoeka). It is a unique tree with lance-like foliage that changes dramatically as the tree matures. In fact so dramatically that early botanists did not even recognize them as the same tree. It is heteroblastic, meaning it has several distinctive phases throughout its life cycle. Not turning into a recognizable tree once it reaches adulthood.
