Lublin, Poland - March 5, 2013: Lublin Castle, Donjon. The castle tower is a valuable Romanesque architectural relic as well as one of the oldest buildings in the region of Lublin.
The earliest history of the castle is connected with the establishment in Lublin in the 12th c. of a seat of a castellan. During Casimir the Just’s reign there was raised a stronghold on the mound fortified with bulwark made of wood and earth.The original castle was totally destroyed and the present building was originally built by the Russian authorities in the first half of the 19th c. as a prison. Today, the castle houses the Lublin Museum.
