Description
A juvenile bobcat - Lynx rufus - trots across the road with a portion of its kill in its mouth. It is a North American mammal in the cat family Felidae, ranging from Canada to Mexico. It is an adaptable predator that inhabits wooded areas, semidesert, urban edge, forest edge and swampland environments. Its coat is typically gray to brown-orange. It has a whiskered face and black-tufted ears. It is about twice as large as a domestic cat. It has distinctive black bars on its forelegs and a black-tipped, stubby tail - from which it derives its common name, Bobcat. Village of Oak Creek, Arizona, 2012.
