Description
Exquisite sunken relief sculpture of gods and goddesses on the Monumental Propylon (or gateway) at the Temple of Hathor, Dendera, Egypt. The deities wear the various crowns of Egypt, solar disk and horns. The gateway was built during the reins of Domitian and Trajan. Dedicated to Hathor, goddess of love, beauty, music and motherhood, the main temple dates from the Graeco-Roman era although a temple stood on the site during the Old Kingdom.
