On 23 November 2010, the Indonesian Center of Vulcanology and Geology Disaster Mitigation raised the activity status of Mount Bromo to "alert". It started to erupt ash on the 26 November 2010.

Mount Bromo (Indonesian: Gunung Bromo), is an active volcano and part of the Tengger massif, in East Java, At 2,329 metres it is the most well known volcano in the archipelago of Indonesia.
