Montevideo, Uruguay - March 5, 2011: View of some of the participants of the murga Agarrate Catalina during a performance at the outdoors tablado built in the neighborhood of Parque Rodo during Carnival 2011.

The "murga" is a form of popular musical theatre composed of a chorus and three percussionists (between 14-17 people). Each year the murgas perform a musical play based on a particular theme, chosen by the group, with references to relevant political and social events occurred in the previous year. The traditional costume and make up is very elaborate and colorful. The murga groups act at the "tablados" during the 40 nights that last the carnival season in Montevideo.
Tablado: popular open air stages temporarily built for carnival at different neighborhoods of the city.
