Description
The Etosha National Park is located in the Northern part of Namibia, in the Kunene region. The park has a size of about 22.270 square kilometres. Etosha is famous for its wildlife, also endangered specias like the Black Rhino live in the National Park. The Park encloses the Etosha pan, which is a large endorheic salt pan (about 120 kilometre long). Usually the pan is a dry (mud coated with salt) lakebed, but during rainy season and after heavy rain the pan fills with a thin layer of water (heavily salted). After rain the dry landscape changes into a beautiful green scenery. During that time it is difficult to pass the roads and a 4x4 vehicle is necessary.
