Description
Spain's most dangerous animal according to some (Thaumetopoea pityocampa) the Pine processionary caterpillar in procession on gravel. Their larvae are laid and spend winter in tent-like nests high in pine trees. When it is time, they fall down and process through the woods in nose-to-tail columns, protected by their severely irritating hairs. The urticating hairs of the caterpillar larvae cause harmful allergic reactions and even death in humans and other mammals.
