Trail Ridge Road is one of the most spectacular drives in all of Colorado, and ranks up there as one of the top in the world. Trail Ridge Road connects Estes Park, on the eastern side of the park with Grand Lake, on the western edge of the park.
At its highest point, Trail Ridge Road reaches 12,183 feet (3658 m), giving it the distinction of being the highest continuously paved road in the United States. Wending through Rocky Mountain National Park, Trail Ridge Road provides panoramic views in every direction. In addition to spectacular mountain peaks and valleys, on most days, you’re also apt to see abundant wildlife (including elk), birds, and waterfalls.
