'The idyllic Provence village of Ramatuelle is a commune of Var in south eastern France very close to St Tropez, The heart of the village is built in the form of a snail. in which shops and cafAs hide in secret alleyways. The ochre facades and the pastel coloured shutters are decorated with jasmine, honeysuckle and bougainvillea. Built against the hills, Ramatuelle faces out on a fabulous Meditrranean vista of the Bay of Pampelonne. The church is the Church of Notre Dame. The bell tower was one of the four watchtowers of the fortified wall of the village which were used to watch the sea to prevent pirate raids. The Mediterranean can just be seen peeking through the oak tree leaves,'
