Description
Red yew berries against dark green foliage is one of the most attractive colour contrasts that nature has to offer. Yew trees symbolise long life - one in Perthshire, Scotland is alleged to be 5000 years old. A yew forest near England's south coast (Kingley Vale) is said to have been a place of Druid worship. Yew is the last on a list of oldest things in a passage from the fourteenth century Book of Lismore: "Three lifetimes of the yew for the world from its beginning to its end."
