Jorhat, India - August 23, 2011: Bundles of rice saplings ready for planting as farmers plough a paddy field using a traditional wooden plough and oxen in a village near Jorhat, Assam, north east India.
Jorhat is dominated by tea plantations. However, villagers in this region of Assam still use traditional methods of cultivation as can be seen in this photo. Rice is a staple food and an important export grain.
