Rome, Italy -January 22, 2010: These men marching in a parade are dressed in traditional period costumes and carry weapons used in ancient times.They have made a turtle with their shields... a protection against spears and arrows and their leader is demonstrating the strength of the turtle. The parade originated in the ancient area of Rome and historical buildings are in the background. It bagan at the Victor Emanuel Monument, went down the avenue Via Dei Fori Imperiali, by the Forum and the Collosseum and ended at the ancient chariot race arena, the Circus Maximus. This parade consisted of several groups and organizations living in and around Rome. The groups interests are in Roman history and they have made accurate period costumes and replica weapons to show in the parade. This annual event is a commencement to other historical activities at Circus Maximus.
