Description

'Rug Hooking is an early American and European folk art in which strips of wool are pulled through a burlap backing. The colorful loops shape designs and become a rug for doorway or display. Originally, leftover scraps or worn household items were recycled into hooked rugs, making this an ecologically friendly craft. Shown here is a wooden-handled rug hook, #8 size wool strips, and the detail of a completed rug. Very little has changed in this fine art in the past 200 years.'
