Castle Rising, England - September 18, 2012: The ruined castle keep at Castle Rising, Norfolk. The castle is one of the best known in England: it dates from the 12th century and is surrounded by huge earthworks. It was owned by Queen Isabella (The She-Wolf of France) and was where she remained under house arrest for her alleged part in the death of her husband, Edward II in 1327: Isabella died at Castle Rising in 1358. At the time she lived there, Castle Rising was extremely luxurious.
