Description
A noble wood tree originating in the Amazon Forest of Brazil, Samaúma is probably the largest tree in the Amazon and one of the largest in the world. It reaches more than 60 meters high and 40 meters in diameter in its canopy. Its scientific name and Ceiba pentranda. In english it is known as Kapok Tree or Silk Cotton Tree. Samaúma is sacred to many indigenous peoples of Tropical America. It blooms in the dry season.
