Southampton, England - August 31, 1935: Alexandra Towing Company tugboat Wellington at the Cunard White Star terminal on Southampton docks. Right of frame the RMS Alaunia (built 1925) which normally served on the North Atlantic Canadian route to Quebec and Montreal.
This photograph of Southampton docks was taken from on board the RMS Aquitania (Cunard White Star Line) as she embarked for New York on August 31 1935. This is scanned from a 116 format negative.

Further details: Cunard and the White Star Line had merged the previous year. Roughly centre frame and partially obscured is the HMT Dorsetshire troop ship which was owned by Bibby Line. Centre frame, the Harland and Wolff Southampton workshops are visible in the distance. Left of frame part of what was once the world's largest floating dock.
