Description

The Sombrero Cordobes, to give this hat it’s correct title, is the traditional Spanish hat worn by both men and women. Originating in Cordoba, the hat is popular with flamenco dancers, bullfighters and horsemen and represents one of the most significant symbols of Spanish culture, particularly in Andalusia. There are many slight design variations available but essentially it must be a felt hat with a wide and flat brim. There is a Seville version that is essentially the same as the Cordoba, but it uses grey rabbit fur in manufacture, rather than felt. Here the hat is displayed in a Spanish hat specialist’s shop window.
