'Bass Strait, Australia - February 4, 2013: Seen from the deck of its sister ship, Spirit of Tasmania II sails across Bass Strait heading for Melbourne. The two ferries are Roll On/Roll Off (ropax ferry) fast passenger and freight vessels. Operated by TT-Line Company Pty Ltd, Spirit of Tasmania I and Spirit of Tasmania II were built in 1998 by Kvaerner Masa Yards in Turku, Finland and entered service on TT-Line's Melbourne to Devonport route on September 1, 2002.In September 1996 the Federal Government introduced the Bass Strait Passenger Vehicle subsidy scheme enabling TT line to reduce the charge for carrying passengers vehicles.'
