Edinburgh, Scotland, UK 14 January 2011 Statue of Scottish philosopher and political economist, Adam Smith, cast in bronze by sculptor Sandy Stoddart, unveiled in 2008 and located outside St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh's Royal Mile.
Adam Smith was particularly famous for writing The Wealth of Nations (1776) which is believed to be the foundation of modern economic theory.
Sandy Stoddart, the sculptor, was born in 1959, and is Sculptor in Ordinary to the Queen in Scotland.
