The Swann Memorial Fountain, also called the Fountain of Three Rivers, was designed by architect Wilson Eyre and sculptured by Alexander Stirling Calder in 1924. Calder used three large native American figures to symbolize the three major waterways in Philadelphia area: the Delaware River (a man), the Schuylkill River (a woman) and Wissahickon Creek (a girl).
