Completed in 1981, the AMP Tower is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the Sydney skyline, rising 309 meters (1,014 feet). During its design and construction the tower was known as the "Sydney Tower," but was rechristened "Centerpoint Tower" when it opened, before finally changing its name to the "AMP Tower" in 1998. It is the tallest structure in Australia and one of the tallest in the entire southern hemisphere.
