Description
Syracusia (Syracuse), the largest (110 m, 360 ft) transport ship of antiquity. Designed by Archimedes and built around 240 BC by Archias of Corinth on the orders of Hieron II of Syracuse. Woodcut engraving after a fantasy illustration (1798), published in 1880.
