Pasadena, California, USA - January 2, 2011: The City of Los Angeles designed a float based on Cirque du Soleil\'s new show IRIS at the 122nd Tournament of Roses Parade.
Description
The 122nd Tournament of Roses Parade took place this year on January 1, 2011 in Pasadena, California USA. The parade featured spirited marching bands from throughout the nation, majestic floral floats, and high-stepping equestrian units. The Tournament of Roses Parade has been an annual event since 1890. At The Rose Parade elaborate floats now feature high-tech computerized animation and exotic natural materials from around the world. Although a few floats are still built exclusively by volunteers from their sponsoring communities, most are built by professional float building companies and take nearly a year to construct. The year-long effort pays off on January 1st, New Years morning, when millions of viewers around the world enjoy the Rose Parade either in person or on television.
