Description
Olduvai (Oldupai) Gorge is an archaeological site and steep-sided ravine in the Great Rift Valley. It is located in the eastern Serengeti Plains of the Arusha Region in Tanzania, East Africa. Olduvai is an important paleoanthropological site in the world. This place was occupied by Homo habilis (ca. 1.9 million years ago), Paranthropus boisei (1.8 million years ago) and Homo erectus (1.2 million years ago). Homo sapiens is dated to 17,000 years ago.
