Description
A young specimen of Tricholomopsis rutilans growing on a coniferous tree stump in warm autumn light. T. rutilans’ hat colour ranges from light rosy to violet while its gills are a creamy yellow colour; the hat tends to lighten with age as it spreads in size, revealing more of the gill under colour from beneath. T. rutilans can be eaten but is not recommended.
