Description

'Turkish hazel (Corylus colurna) became known to the west in 1582, when it was 'discovered' in western Asia. It is the only hazel that regularly has tree status, other species tending to be more bushy in habit. Here are the developing nuts, from covered green to the nuts themselves.Normally, these nuts are said to be larger than 'our' hazel nut. However, this lone tree is producing mere nut shells, with no kernel.Other photo of Turkish hazel nut:'
