Description
"View from the Hunt trail on top of Mount Katahdin, Maine. The elevation is about 5,000 feet above sea level. The flat area is called the tableland. The Hunt trail is the last part of the northern end of the Appalachian trail. Low cloud cover is seen on the edge of the mountain. Rock piles called cairns mark the trail. Fragile alpine tundra plants can be seen on either side of the trail. Erosion from excessive foot travel widened the trails."
