Equestrian statue erected in 1906, on south side of the South Carolina State House, Columbia, South Carolina. Confederate Civil War Lieutenant General Wade Hampton, III, of South Carolina, (1818-1902) gained renown for his many successful battles during the War Between the States. Later served as Governor of the State of South Carolina, and also served as a United States Senator.
