Description
Helvella crispa Fr. White Saddle, Common White Helvella, Helvelle crépue, Oreille de chat, Herbst-Lorchel, Fodros papsapkagomba, Spugnola d'autumno crespa, Witte kluifzwam. Cap 2–5cm high, saddle-shaped and deeply lobed, convoluted at the centre, whitish with pale buff or tan underside. Stem 20–60 x 10–20mm white, hollow and deeply furrowed. Asci 300 x 18µ. Spores elliptical, 18–20 x 10–13µ. Habitat on path-sides in damp, deciduous woods. Season late summer to late autumn and occasionally in spring. Common. Edible – poor.
