Lobuche, Nepal - April 18,2013: Yaks at the start of the return journey down from expedition' camps where mountaineers, sherpas and support crew wait and prepare for summit attempts
Description
Yaks are common sights on the trails in Nepal. These yaks had just started the return journey down from Everest Base Camp (5364m) where mountaineers, sherpas and support crew wait, and prepare for summit attempts. Yaks are particularly well suited to the task of carrying heavy loads in the cold and the thinner air at high elevations. Even at this elevation, the peaks of Pumori (7165m) and Lingtren (6749m) tower behind them.
