Los Angeles, California, USA - August 23, 2013: The Good Year blimp. The zeppelin is 192 feet long, 59.5 feet tall and 50 feet wide - filled with helium as its lifting agent. It cruises at 35 MPH with a top speed just over 50 MPH. It carries enough fuel for 24 hours of flight, but a typical excursion lasts 8 hours. The huge craft responds to pilot controls with a slow, ponderous lagtime, but is a pleasure to fly. This ship, the N10A, is part of Good Year's Global Air Operations fleet. The tire and rubber company has flown zeppelins since 1911, with its own fleet beginning in 1917. Good Year is currently updating its fleet in partnership with ZLT Zeppelin Luftschifftechnik in Germany. A new carbon fiber framework has been completed and the DuPont Tedlar film envelope is being applied now. This new ship is longer, faster and more maneuverable than the old fleet, with a volume of 297,527 cubic feet.
