This shallow part of the Banda Neira reef lies inbetween the two lava flows, so it was not destroyed when reef was significantly destroyed 1988 during a volcanic eruption and the flow of lava over it. There are a lot of Isopora corals in the foreground, a Porites coral at the right side and a lot of Acropora coral behind. There is a large school of Ternate Chromis Chromis ternatensis. The species occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea and East Africa to Samoa and Tonga, north to the Ryukyu Islands, south to New Caledonia in a depth range from 2-36m, max. length 10.5cm. There are many other fish species to see, Triggerfishes, Parrotfishes, Surgeonfishes, Damselfishes, Butterflyfishes.
