River Ness, Inverness, Scotland, UK - Feb 17 2019: The River Ness is 6 miles long. Flowing from the northern end of Loch Ness to Inverness, then into the Beauly Firth. It’s Scottish Gaelic name ‘Inbhir Nis’, means "Mouth of the Ness". Seven bridges span the Ness. Here we see ‘Waterloo bridge’. It is locally known as the ‘Black Bridge”. This is due to it’s original wooden structure built in 1808, that was black in colour. This metal bridge replaced it in 1896 and is of iron construction. The view is from the Merkinch area of the city, looking towards the cars crossing.

"Panoramic view along the River Thames flowing through the UK's capital city, London under a blue sky filled with white fluffy clouds. Taking in The gothic archetecture of the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, St Stephens Tower (better known as Big Ben), Waterloo Bridge, The London Eye and County Hall."

"Vintage engraving from 1831 of Waterloo Bridge, London, London, England. The first bridge on the site was designed in 1809-10 by John Rennie for the Strand Bridge Company and opened in 1817 as a toll bridge. The granite bridge had nine arches, each of 120 feet span, separated by double Grecian-Doric stone columns and was 2,456 feet long, including approaches."

This is a view of the buildings opposite London's South Bank (the centre for arts that includes the Hayward Gallery, the National Theatre and the Royal Festival Hall). The view includes the prominent buildings on the north bank of the Thames as they are seen from the southern end of Waterloo Bridge. On the far left is the Adelphi Building at 1-11 John Adam Street. It was completed in a notable Art Deco style by Stanley Hamp of Colcutt and Hamp in 1938. In the middle is Shell Mex House, now correctly known as simply 80 Strand. The current building was completed in 1930–31 on the site of the Cecil Hotel. It is immediately recognizable from the River Thames by the clock tower positioned on the south side of the building. In 1975, it became the head office of Shell UK Ltd. Finally, in the 1990s, 80 Strand became the HQ of Pearson plc. Just peeping in at the at right hand edge is the Savoy Hotel.
