Jaipur, India - September 22, 2015: Mahouts riding elephants along the wall of Amber Fort . Everyday close to 1000 tourist take an elephant ride of 20 to 30 minutes to the fort. Around 80 elephants carry this task. There are some limitation now as the number of trips up to the fortress and also the tourists they carry are limited to two per animal.

This playing card has square corners, typical of the mid- to late-19th century. Ravi Varma Press began in 1892 but was already deep in debt by 1899. The press was sold and the factory went up in flames in 1972.

The festival is held on the day before the Hindu festival of Holi in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. There is a long standing tradition in India of domesticating wild elephants and using them for processions. These elephants are normally used to take tourists to Amber Fort on the outskirts of Jaipur, but once a year they are decorated for the elephant festival.
