Description

These Leaf Cutter Ants were found on an excursion during a paddle boat trip down the Napo River in the Amazon Basin, Ecuador. The ants work together to cut leaves for their nest. Once an ant has a piece ready to go, it gets in line and heads down the tree with its comrads. The trail was around 20-30 feet long before it disappeared into a hole in the ground. Relieved of its burden, the ant turns around, and starts the process again.
